John Paul Mitchell Systems Announces Hair Stylist Winners of 2009 Photo
Shoot Competition
(BEVERLY HILLS, December 15, 2008)- John Paul Mitchell Systems is pleased to announce the winners of the 2009 Paul Mitchell Photo Shoot Competition. In the annual competition from coast to coast this past fall, Paul Mitchell National Educators submitted their portfolio entries highlighting their top cuts, color and styles to showcase their experience, along with their brainstormed inspiration boards for their dream editorial shoot for the judges' consideration. All with the goal of taking home the prize of a photo shoot in Los Angeles under the mentorship of Paul Mitchell Editorial Director and NAHA (North America Hairstylist Awards) winner Lucie Doughty.
The 2009 John Paul Mitchell Systems Photo Shoot Contest winners are as follows:
• Mikel Sandoval – Paul Mitchell Master Associate: Tampa, Florida
o Mikel’s -The Paul Mitchell Experience Salon
• Stephen Adams – Paul Mitchell PAC Team Member: Minneapolis, Minnesota
o Moxie Salon
• Nicole Beth Miller – Paul Mitchell National Educator: Orange Park, Florida
o William Taber Salon
All entrants' submissions were required to include photos of their current work, a storyboard of their desired Paul Mitchell shoot, and a letter about the entrant and why they should be chosen. After much consideration, these four artists were chosen based on skill with their current work, creativity and vision for the proposed finalist shoot.
All winners will be flown out to Los Angeles this spring, where they will partner with Doughty to bring their creative idea to life, working with a top editorial photographer, makeup artist, wardrobe stylist and models. Each winner will work with two specific models on which to create three different styles to showcase their artistic range.
"The level of creativity exhibited in the entries this year was stellar. It shows that we have a very high caliber of educator," says Lucie Doughty, Editorial Director for JPMS and contest judge. "Photo shoots are such an important artistic medium for hair stylists as it allows them to work with hair in new creative ways outside of the salon. The entrants from last year's contest garnered an impressive amount of international press with their collections, thus I am really looking forward to seeing the success of this year's talented group."
